I don’t know about you, but I certainly have fallen victim to sleeping with my makeup on! I mean, after a long day of work, or a long night out with friends, or your guy, especially if drinks are involved, washing off your makeup just doesn’t always seem like a top priority.

And if I am being totally honest, it’s happened to me more nights than I’d like to admit. We are all guilty of it, but here are 5 reasons why you should going to bed with your face fully beat:

1. Clogs Pores

If you are going to bed with makeup on, then your pores aren’t getting a chance to breathe! Washing your face should be a crucial part of your bedtime routine, because clogged pores lead to breakouts!

2. Builds on pillow

The more you go to sleep with your makeup on, the more build up and residue you are leaving behind on your pillow. Over time, this can actually lead to oily skin, greasy hair, and a dirty pillow! Sometimes, makeup isn’t always the easiest to wash out, and you could be staining your sheets.

3. Eye Irritation

Sleeping with mascara and eyeliner on could cause those chemicals to get into your eyes, and cause irritation. One trick that I do is keep makeup wipes in my room on my night stand. So, even if i get too tired to do a full face wash, I can at least clean my eye makeup off before bed.

4. Premature Aging

Even though you think that you are far from “getting old” sleeping in your makeup could actually cause you to age earlier than normal.

Throughout the day, your face accumulates a lot of stress. And when you sleep in your makeup, your skin is not given the chance to recover from said stress. In turn, fine lines and wrinkles will began to develop on your face. So wash your face, if you want to keep your skin looking young and fresh as long as possible!

5. Extra Work to do in the morning

If you aren’t washing your face or have any type of nightly facial routine, than your mornings just got longer. Take it from me, having to take off old makeup completely, right before reapplying a fresh coat is a pain! Not to mention, that means less time to focus on my hair or my outfit of the day.
