Model and actor Shaun Ross is better known as the first male albino pro model. He, like many people in this world, has struggled with blemishes and breakouts in the past mainly as a result of hitting puberty.

Now at 24 he is sharing some of his top 5 tips for managing your skin.

1. Drink A Lot Of Water

I find drinking water especially with two sliced lemons really started to change my skin for the better.

I believe everyone agrees that water consumption is a major player in the quality of your skin. Though other things need to come in play as well, it’s an important start.

2. Eat Healthy

Instead of eating fatty foods high in sodium everyday, why not just eat them once a week. Doing this will also help your digestive system. Most cases of bad skin come from the things we eat, so pay closer attention to that than you normally do.

The phrase you are what you eat really does holds a lot of truth. If you eat a bunch of greasy and sweet foods it’s going to ultimately show up on your face. Make sure you are consuming balanced meals with lots of fruits and veggies.

3. Exfoliate Regularly

Often you will find that there is dirt and oil hiding in your pores that your regular face wash just can’t get out. This is one of the reasons why exfoliating is vital to include in your skincare regimen. Aim for once or twice a week due to wanting to avoid harming your skin.

To recreate my homemade exfoliator, you will need a bar of soap (non-sensitive to the skin like Sabon NYC olive oil soap or Dove), table salt and a white washcloth. Rinse your face with warm water, and then pour one tablespoon of salt into the palm of one hand and mix it with the bar of soap. Make sure the soap is wet to form a rich lather.

I Use This Product EVERY Week!

To my gyals, clay has cured my skin of years of acne proned skin, improved my complexion, acne scars and shrunk my pores. This is the best clay mask assortment pack to try all  my favorite kinds of clay + it's affordable.

You need for the salt to settle into something and it can’t do that if it is dry. Massage your face with the solution in an upward motion because gravity is what causes your skin to wrinkle, sag and age faster. Rinse your face clean with warm water and wipe with a hot white washcloth. You will see everything that you scrubbed off of your face is no longer there.

4. Keep Your Skin Moisturized

Whatever your skin type whether it be dry, oily or combination, it is very important to make sure your are applying a moisturizer. It helps to balance out any problems and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

The moisturizer I always keep in my bag is Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. This “face maker” is so moist and works well with other products. I promise you won’t be disappointed and the best thing is that you only need small amount. It also works great as a skin repair agent.

5. Hold The Rays

As you all may know I do have albinism and keeping from the suns rays is a must in my life. … Even if you have a darker complexion, keeping safe from sunrays should still be a part of your life. This will not only lower your chances of being diagnosed with skin cancer but it will also help you to keep your skin healthy.

There is a common misconception that people of color can’t get skin cancer because of the melanin in our skin. While it does help serve as a form of protection it is important to use a sunscreen with an acceptable SPF before stepping out in the sun in order to prevent cancer and keep our skin looking beautiful.
