Nowadays, it’s become the norm for us to work longer hours than recommended, and to even minimize the vacation time we take.

If you don’t spend enough time unwinding and rejuvenating, you will burn out. Your productivity will lower, and you might be in danger of getting fired. This will further stress you out and leave you in a position where your mind is almost at its breaking point.

2. Being perfectionists

Life isn’t perfect, and people definitely aren’t perfect. Despite this, most of us spend a large portion of our lives searching for perfection in the things we do and the people we know.

In moderation, seeking perfection can be a good thing. However, you shouldn’t take it to the level that you don’t accept anything less.

If you try to shape the lives of the people around you to fit your idea of perfect, it’s not going to end well. They’ll disappoint you and you’ll end up with depression.

3. Hating yourself

A lot of us doubt ourselves, thinking stuff like “I’m just not smart” or “I’m too fat”. Well, it’s not healthy.

We need to love ourselves, because no one can love us as much as we can. Sadly, the opposite is also true. If people criticize you, forget about them. Their opinions shouldn’t make you think any less of yourself.

4. Jealousy

There are people who will always have things better than us, be it a better husband, job or even looks. The last thing you should do is attack them and try to put them down.

Karma is real, and bringing other people down will also bring you down in the end. Instead of showing envy, you should try to emulate them so you can have something similar to what they have. And just be happy for them.

5. Not being yourself

Never try to be anything other than yourself. This shows that you are not confident in yourself and you feel like you have to act like another person so you can be accepted.

If people don’t like who you really are, they don’t deserve a place in your life. After all, life is just too short.

On the whole, we need to devote more time to ourselves and love ourselves just the way we are. Trust me, you’ll live longer if you do.
