We hear it all the time, if we switch our workouts to first thing in the morning, we can burn more calories throughout the day.

In addition to that, you also hear that your day will be more productive, you will have more energy and be more alert.

I do not know about you, but I struggled to get the morning work out in, waking up at the crack of dawn to run around and sling iron did sound appealing in theory but in practice was a failure day after day.

It was not until I changed a few things that I was able to conquer the fatigue and laziness that came with working out in the morning.

To get into the habit of working out early, you have to change a few things starting with the day before. Here are 7 ways you can become a morning workout person:

1. Go to bed early

This has to be the first suggestion because honestly it makes no sense to think you can wake up early in the morning to work out when you just got in bed 3 hours before.

Whatever it is that you are doing late at night has to be shifted, adjusted or eliminated altogether so that you can get to bed.

Obviously when you are super busy and a parent this is not going to be the case all the time, so commit to a few days a week so that your adjustment can be slow, but eventually permanent.

To my gyals, clay has cured my skin of years of acne proned skin, improved my complexion, acne scars and shrunk my pores. This is the best clay mask assortment pack to try all  my favorite kinds of clay + it's affordable.

2. Set your alarm but put it far away

Do not put your alarm next to your bed, put it far away preferably next to your work out clothes. You will have to get up to turn it off, and maybe in that moment when you have to make the decision to put your gym clothes on or go to bed, you will pick ‘put your gym clothes on’.

3. Prepare your workout clothes the night before

Save yourself the time in the morning searching through mounds of clothing to find your favorite pair of shorts or leggings. Find everything the night before lay it out, so all you have to do is put everything on.

4. Stretch in bed

When you are really having trouble waking up, come up with some simple stretches you can do to wake your muscles up and get your mind into workout mode. Stretch your back, touch your toes, stretch your shoulders and legs.

Once you are done, get up and make it happen!

5. Make a date

There is nothing like ensuring that you aren’t the one that is late for a workout session with a friend. You can motivate each other and get that workout in together.

6. Set a music alarm backup

If have a device that can blast your favorite tunes in the morning from the playlist that is going get you through the work out, set it as a back up alarm.

If you have Rihanna screaming “Bitch Better Have My Money” at you first thing in the morning it is enough to wake anyone up.

7. Drink a glass of water and a shot of apple cider vinegar

Make this a routine whether you work out or not, ACV is awesome first thing in the morning, if gives you energy it jump starts your cells and a very healthy alternative to a chocolate ‘health’ bar.

8. Make your workout fun

It does not have to be a grueling gym session, maybe do a run or swim. If you are lucky enough to live by the beach, run in the sand next to the ocean or do your yoga poses to the beat of the waves crashing.

If you enjoy it you will do it! Are you a morning workout person? Share some of your tips!
