Remember a couple of months ago when campaigns for Aaliyah getting a cosmetics line in her name was being spread across social media? Well her name is up again and this time for the official release for her fragrance.
The company Xyrena has developed the perfume with collaboration of her mother and brother, Diane & Rashad Haughton.
Aaliyah™ by Xyrena is the first and only official fragrance tribute to the Princess of R&B.
The scent is said to be unisex but leans to be more masculine as Aaliyah favored men’s scent lines in light of her tomboy image.
As for appearance, the formula contains black hues which was designed due to black being Aaliyah’s favorite color.
According to the product description, Aaliyah by Xyrena has base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, amber, and jasmine; middle notes of black pepper, violet and leather; with top notes of mint, lavender and mandarin.
The line already has supporters from Missy Elliott and Timberland and they are both expected to be receiving bottles. The company is also in hopes that Drake will support the line and will be sending him a bottle as well because it is known that he is one of Aaliyah’s biggest fans.
Xyrena CEO Killian Wells gave a statement to MTV about the campaign and the family’s support.
“From day one we worked with Aaliyah’s estate to ensure that every aspect of this release met their approval,” Wells explained in a statement to MTV News. “They appreciated that we wanted to create a fragrance that was really about Aaliyah, not just a generic scent with her name on the bottle.”
Aaliyah™ by Xyrena is currently available for preorder and set to ship in mid-October.
Five percent of the fragrance sales are set to be donated to The Aaliyah Memorial Fund. What do you think? Will you be purchasing the new Aaliyah by Xyrena?
