The perfect blend of “Maleficent” actress Angelina Jolie and “Fury” actor Brad Pitt’s beautiful child Shiloh has been on the red carpet for a while with suits and short hair – a boyish style. Telegraph reported that now 8-year-old Shiloh, asked to be called John around the age of 3 and the family respects the decision. We should also use the new name.
During an interview with Vanity Fair back in 2010, 39-year-old Angelina Jolie explained her daughter’s tendency toward masculinity: “She wants to be a boy.” Jolie also told that they had to cut John’s hair short.
“She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”
The Jolie-Pitt couple has three sons and John’s decision must have mean a lot more time in the boys’ department while shopping.
51-year-old “World War Z” actor Brad Pitt revealed in a recent interview that whenever Pitt would call John “Shi”, she interrupts him and says “I’m John”.
The family accompanied Angelina Jolie at her movie premiere, Unbroken, which she directed. John wore a suit and tie along with her older brothers 11-year-old Pax and 13-year-old Maddox.
Psychology experts see these tendencies normal especially in a middle child with older siblings from opposite gender. John has two younger and three older siblings. These tomboy tendencies are natural for children at the age when they explore the features of genders.
John’s exploration does not mean that the 8-year-old will be a transgender whereas it’s a possibility. Exploring the genders is considered quite normal. What is not normal is suppressing these actions as society and as parents. It is really important for children to grow up in a comfortable environment. John is very lucky to be a part of Jolie-Pitt family as they let their children to be free. We applaud the famous couple’s decision.
