We often get cold feet when we are about to do something we would rather not do. For Apollo Nida, his feet were colder than most because prison was his destination. Nida, husband to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” sensation Phaedra Parks, was to show up in prison on Wednesday to kick off an eight year sentence for fraud and money laundering.
However, Nida had a case of the I-don’t-want-to-go-to-jail nerves, because on the way to prison, he made a little detour at Parks’ place and started throwing a fit. Apparently, Parks had refused to place any funds into his prison account for the duration of his sentence. In addition, she was adamant that she would not take their kids to prison to visit him. This caused Nida to lose it, because he wanted his kids to visit, and he felt he deserved some prison spending money.
Well, boohoo. You don’t commit a crime, get caught, be found guilty beyond all reasonable doubt, and still expect people to treat you like a prince. Not in the real world. Parks’ choice was a wise one. Nida made mistakes; let him atone for them. Taking care of their children should be Parks’ chief priority while he serves his sentence.
Nida, soon to be Inmate Number 65725-019, was sentenced to eight years in prison for being part of a scheme where fraudulent collection agencies were created to launder stolen checks and to commit identity theft. He made off with about $1.9 million, which federal authorities ordered him to repay. He will also serve a five-year parole after completing the sentence.
If you feel sorry for Nida in any way, you should know that this isn’t his first crime. He had previously served five years for auto title fraud. So, swindling people is kind of his thing.
It’s hard to sympathize with Nida, because it’s not like they were going bankrupt. Hopefully, serving this sentence will remind him of the important things in life: family and friends, or he could just text Kenya for the money.
Oh and don’t you worry we will see the drama play out for ourselves because in true Bravo fashion they got it all on tape! Ratings anyone?
