Have you seen this trend? If you haven’t then we suggest you head on over to Pinterest and search ‘Hump nails’, ‘bubble nails’ or what we consider to be a slight understatement, ‘Curve nails’.
Once you do the search you might be fooled by all the other cute and cool manicures, but just scroll on down to the bottom until you see these jokers:
What are those things? Well I will tell you, this “procedure” was created back in 2009 by a nail tech named Hoa Bui who works at a nail salon in Philly.
She actually took pictures of her work and sent it in to a magazine for a feature. I suppose she was proud of it and judging by the hundreds of pictures on Instagram and on Pinterest, there are more than a few women loving the art of loading tons of acrylic on their poor nails.
The blogs have all called for a cease and desist order of the trend and if there is ever a petition created that would cause some sort of law passed against these, we would sign it a thousand times.
Below is a video showing how these nails are actually created and just judging from the amount of acrylic used on each nail we know walking around with huge humps on each finger cannot be comfortable. The description on the video did not hold back on how uncomfortable these things are either:
You can say it’s big, extreme thick round ball on nail. It’s unbreakable and extremely difficult to wear, it’s heavy on your nails. Unless you’re used to the thickness.
We have to admit that the way the hump nail is done is sort of interesting watch below:
After watching the video comment below and let us know if would wear these? We are hoping everyone will give us a resounding no because these are just horrible!
