In the past few weeks, Chris Brown has made community service his day job, with his singing career relegated to his side job. Brown has been doing hard labor 6 hours every weekday. He apparently wants to be done by the time he has his next court hearing in mid-January.
Since November 13th, Brown has been working hard at an institution approved by the Probation Department. He has been moving furniture, cleaning, painting (not the artistic kind), removing trash and more.
Well, it’s about time he started doing what he needs to do. He was sentenced to over 1000 hours of community service, and before November he was not really putting a lot of effort into it. Maybe one of his gang friends let him know that the time of his next hearing is getting closer and he finally chose to put his back to it.
Apparently the singer hasn’t complained or been his usual annoying self while doing menial work not meant for a millionaire superstar. And why would he?
The community service is probably the lightest sentence Brown could have gotten. In case you’ve forgotten, this is his punishment for severely beating his ex, Rihanna.
He could easily have faced criminal charges and would be doing time right now. As things stand, the 1000 hours of hard labor are something he should be thankful for.
Oh, and he had already violated the terms of his probation by submitting false community service reports. So, technically, this is as good as it’s going to get for the singer.
Brown probably plans to tell the judge at his next hearing that he’s done with service and is ready to go back to his regular life. I guess performing at events must be tough when you’re doing it after cleaning toilets and such.
In any case, it’ll be good to see Brown finally complete his punishment, even though it was little more than a slap on the wrist.
