I made the decision to become celibate about a year ago, and have been going strong ever since. I’ve gone on dates with a few guys during that time, but I never really had much chemistry with any of them, so nothing really progressed after the first date, and we would go our separate ways.

However, while in the check out line at Target I met a cute guy, and we spark up conversation about laundry detergent. Not the most exciting conversation, but now that I think about it, he probably just used that as a clever way to get my number.

He was very witty, and hilarious, which I love, and had a colgate smile. He checked out before me, and I thought that would be the end of it, but as he was leaving, he turned around and asked for my number. I had to play it cool because on the inside I was yelling “YES!” So, we exchanged numbers, I paid for my items and went about my afternoon.

Later that evening he called me and asked if I would like to go to dinner that night. Even though it was last minute, I said sure, why not. We met up at a restaurant that I had been dying to try and spent the whole evening talking and laughing.

It was as if we had known each other our whole lives because we had amazing chemistry. It didn’t take long for the conversation to get to the subject of religion because for me this is very important. I knew that whoever I would take serious or date seriously had to be on the same page with me on that, and had to be down for the celibacy.

We talked about it, and he said that he too is a Christian and that he thought that the celibacy is very admirable. I wasn’t quite sure how to read that response, but I didn’t think anything of it, and we continued to chat and laugh until he said that he didn’t want to keep me out too late, and we should probably get going.

That night, I texted him when I got home to thank him again for dinner and to let him know I made it home safely. I didn’t find it strange that he didn’t reply, and assumed he was either busy or dozed off.

When I woke up, I still didn’t have any response from him. Still, I went about my day as usual. That night I figured I would call him, just to chat. When I called it went straight to voicemail. I was a bit confused.

About 5 minutes later I got a text from him stating that he really liked me but he wasn’t down for the celibacy, and he thought it would be best if we just left it where it was. I was so shocked.

That was my first time getting curved! I also chuckled a little bit to myself, because I thought, well good thing he cut himself off it made it easier for me down the road!
