That what I need one
Are Black women the only ones who have this issue?
No, but it’s more prominent in darker skinned women for obvious reasons
Right. It’s because of our melanin.
I’ve seen Hispanic women too, but not white women
No a lot of white women in my pcos group have it
I had a white friend once who’s underarms were dark as well
I saw a Hispanic woman on The Dr’s and they pretty much just told her she has to lose weight for it to go away..she also had it on the back of her neck.
It is a condition called Acanthosis Nigrucans. Google it.
I thought that condition was specifically for the darkness in the neck. To be honest, I know it’s true, because when I was thinner I didn’t have this darkness on my neck, I don’t know what causes the darkness under the arms.
It has to do with obesity as well. People who are overweight, and have a high sugar intake are much more susceptible for having the condition. The lady in the video looked thin to me. Could just be her skin rubbing together. Idk, not a doctor. But I have struggled with this condition my whole life and I wanted people to be more informed than just bleaching their skin. Like I said before, everyone’s body gives them signs, we all need to do better at listening more closely.
*waits for the idiots to say it comes from not washing properly*
Don’t worry, they’ll show up eventually. Lol
Lol…have seen so many babies born with dark underarms, and dark forehead and dark butt. I dnt knw if they can do somethin abt that
Will The remedy for this work for acne scaring as well? Which I now is a pigment issue that I’ve been battling with for two years now.
Two years is long time to be patient. Try coconut oil. Get a cold pressed more pricey one. Use it several times a day. It will work.
If it’s on your face just make sure you slather yourself at night and in morning.
Coconut oil will remove dark spots from your face?
It will say pure, unrefined, cold pressed, or organic. Any term could be on what ever coconut oil you get. Just try to get a good quality. 😉
Hint: it will smell like a coconut, small container may be around $10.00
The better quality the shorter amount of time it will work. I used to get Louana brand. No scent. It works but takes much longer.
what about dark knees?
Nivea sells a lightening deodorant that can be found on EBay. It’s not sold in the US, but in Europe. My cousin had great results.
And elbows, along with the knees.
Just wax them instead of having and the color changes completely during the first wax, I swear by it
So the wax lightens your armpit.
Yes I was surprised by it, I think it’s just dead skin honestly that gets taken off by the wax, if you wax your legs the pore becomes smaller and less noticeable as well
I think it has to do with the hair follicles and the hair left underneath the skin from when you shave.
Does it hurt to wax ur armpits…. I cry when I get my eyebrows done
Biannca Roundtree lol its only for the brave lol , it’s hurts but it’s only one pull and then I don’t have to wax again for a month
That’s sounds about right as well, but wouldn’t their legs be dark too?
My leg hair follicles got really dark with shaving and Nair
Try waxing I swear the pores look smaller
its mostly with females who shave their arm pits (idk why) but if you use Nair or wax instead you will start to notice a change.
I’ve always shaved and my pits are not dark or discolored .
mostly…….. not all
Nair and shaving started this problem for me. So, I started waxing and that has helped significantly
Exfoliate in circular motions to get all dead skin off then get waxed…
My underarms tend to get dark and irritated like that with gel deodorants
Eww !!!
The person on this video probably has darker skin on the back of her neck and inner thighs. The condition is called Acanthosis Nigrucans (sp?).
She doesn’t need to bleach her skin. The problem is deeper. She needs to see her dermatologist and limit her sugar intake. This condition almost always is a precursor to diabetes. Has nothing to do with hygiene! Your body gives you signs, you just have to listen.
Yes true. Hormones and sugar levels are not in balance in the body.
Finally someone with common sense
That condition does manifest itself with darkened neck and thighs but not with darkened armpits. That has to do with more with melanin than anything else. Those with elevated melanin (black people and people of color) are predisposed to side effects keloids on wounds and darkened armpits caused by skin trauma from shaving.
educate these people please… This is not always a dirt issue. But health issue
Well Jennifer, I’m dark in all places. So, maybe you could explain that to my doctor. People can get darkened skin at the neck, under arms, inner thighs and under breasts with this condition.
Her under arms had no keloids that I saw. :-/
This is cool because I have been using ambi cream and its not working!
Ambi never worked for me either
I just ordered some of this from Amazon and also some deodarant called Nivea whiting deodarant
I’m an esthetician.
Wax them!!
Waxing pulls the hair from the root.
Shaving leaves a 5 oclock shadow.
So scared to wax. I hate getting my eyebrows done and I’ve been doing that for years
I used to have this problem and I realized it was caused by wearing wool. It would cause my armpits to itch and I would get dark scars from the rash. It stopped when I quit wearing wool.
This comes from using cheap razors, 3 blades or more work best. I noticed the different when I switched from cheap 2 blade razors…
It’s also associated with diabetes! Do your research before you try to solve this by bleaching. Ask a doctor.
And this is why I used near
Laser them!
The real and unique solution is to wax rather than shaving.
You can totally notice the difference.
Its caused by everything everyone said except not washing right and using cheap razors. Also Deodorant buildup. I use the exspensive razors and my arms got like this. I just use nair now and I see my arms getting lighter and I exfoliate too.dont over due it on the Deodorant. And get a check up and make sure its not diabetes. I would wax but im scared it will hurt bad lol
yesss
I read that the deodorant also can burn the skin when using harsh deodorant. That also make the skin darker
Yes.thats why I dont over due it on the Deodorant.i try and get the natural ones.my under arms got lighter from that too.
The reason for that is bad deodorant, use deodorant with no alcohol, problem solved.
Rub lemon or lime under armpits or where ever dark patches leave for 10-15 mins then wash as normal its a natural resource so use it as an when needed
My armpits are like this and I absolutely hate it I recently changed my deodorant and now I use a mineral salt rock you just wet with water and apply I absolutely love it no more itching. stinging. irritation or odor now to try nair to see if it’ll lighten my armpits
Arm and hammer is good too

the reason most people have dark harmpits is because they shave instead of waxing. When shaving, the blade irritates the skin and the skin goes dark.
Yes some deodorants cause the darkness because of the aluminum.
I use to have this problem wheb I use to shave. Waxing and laser hair removal def fix this for me
Some women need this for there necks lol lbvs
