When Ebony Magazine posted this on Instgram my first thought was why encourage children to leave school and put people at risk to lose their jobs in the spirit of a protest.
I am all for a good old march but being effective long term also means focusing on keeping our children in school and supporting productive adults.
The post was done on Instagram earlier today and from the looks of things many supporters of the Justice for Michael Brown movement have decided to pass on it because it is clearly taking things way too far.
We cant tell people how to protest something but from my simple perspective how does leaving your job or school lead to effective change? Education is one of the most effective forms of protest because only then will you understand what is fundamental about the cause and give yourself a diverse perspective on the entire situation.
We have been told many times that truth is a prerequisite to progress and when we are more fanatical and superficial we hinder any progression that needs to be made.

We need to encourage our children to get educated on political laws, on their rights and give them the means to have an open mind so they can effect change even after we have left this earth. While there is emotion, at this point we cannot be driven by it but use common sense when we have mouths to feed and College tuition to pay.
Please do not walk out of your job or walk out of your school, but rather use the classroom to have meaningful discussions about the past weeks when you are allowed to. Use the technology available to you to continue to protest what you feel is important on either side but do not do it at the expense of your livelihood or education.
