Alkaline water is old news for some of us, but not all of us have heard of it. And if you have and still aren’t drinking it, then you likely don’t truly know all of the benefits it can offer you.
Hopefully, you’ll find this break down to be informal, as well as inspiring, so that you too can reap the benefits that alkaline water can offer you!
Alkaline Water vs. Ionized Water
The pH level of your water is what tells you whether it is alkaline or acidic. Anything 7.0 and over is considered alkaline, while anything less is acidic.
Confusion sets in, especially with all the false marketers out there, regarding the alkalinity of water products in stores today. Just because the pH level of water is in the alkaline range doesn’t mean you’re going to get the benefits that is witnessed with alkaline “ionized” water.
Yes, there is a difference, which is why you should only trust brands that state that the water has been ionized. This simply means that the water has gone through a process of electrolysis that turns it not only into an alkaline state, but brings it to life.
When water goes through electrolysis, it makes the hydrogen molecules more active and the water clusters shrink to 4-6 molecules from 12-14 molecules per cluster.
What this means is that it is more easily absorbed by your body and cells, hydrating you faster and more thoroughly than your typical tap, spring or non-ionized alkaline water.
So what can alkaline Ionized Water do for me?
Since alkaline ionized water is made up of smaller clusters,it has an antioxidant effect on your body. So not only is it hydrating your cells, but it’s also detoxifying them.
It gets rid of harmful free radicals, which are known to speed up the process of aging and promote illness.
It’s able to do this because it contains ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential), which is typically only found in high concentrations within fresh fruits and veggies. Drinking this can benefit you in the same way as juicing with fresh produce.
This is also true because it destroys reactive oxygen species that it contains (or ROS), aka free radicals, which damages your cells and DNA, leading up to cancer and disease formations like ulcers, tumors, diabetes and more.
Alkaline ionized water is able to prevent this from happening, halt cancer reproduction and even reverse the effects in those who already have these illnesses (combined with a alkaline diet of course). It also aids in the metabolic and digestion process in your body.
This type of water has been used in the cancer community because of its effects on cancer cells. It’s been found that cancer cells cannot survive in alkaline environments, so by combining alkaline ionized water and a high alkaline diet (fresh vegetation), the cancerous cells are eradicated.
If you suffer from diabetes or are close to developing it, alkaline ionized water can also benefit you. It’s been shown that it can help improve your glucose levels, as well as glucose tolerance for Type 1 and 2 diabetes.
Studies have also shown that it prevents cell damage within the pancreas that generally lead to diabetes and helps to protect the pancreas cells from ROS damage. Other than diabetes, it’s also useful in stabilizing triglyceride and cholesterol levels.
If you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions, you may like the fact that alkaline ionized water can help with slowing down the process of aging, by preventing cell damage.
It can also help you keep away diseases and health problems, including ulcers, Parkinson’s disease, arteriosclerosis and some types of degenerative issues that affect your eye’s retina.
Also, if you like to workout, play sports or do other physical activities, drinking ionized water can help hydrate you faster and more thoroughly, so that you can keep pushing forward.
It takes less water to keep yourself hydrated compared to non-ionized water, which is great if you want to pack lightly.
Where can I get Alkaline Iodized Water?
These brands sell water that is taken straight from natural sources, which is why I promote them. You should avoid drinking alkaline water that includes electrolytes because they can cause damage to your liver.
The other option is to purchase a water ionizer, which can range around $300-400 upwards to $800. This will save you money over time, so it’s a great investment.
But again, make sure that the machine’s filter doesn’t include electrolytes. You only want to ionize the water.
Some people even make homemade versions (search on YouTube). Water ionizers imitate nature, which electrifies water through lightning strikes (so that’s the purpose of lightning!). So you want to stay as close to the natural process as possible.
You can find the brands I mentioned in various stores in the water aisle and the ionizer machines can be found on sites like eBay and Amazon.
Are you interested in trying alkaline ionized water? Have you already included it in your regimen? If so, how do you like it so far?
