In this day and age every little thing a celebrity does or doesn’t do is brought into question and the rumors begin to swirl. Questions arose about Oscar-winning actress/singer Jennifer Husdon’s sexuality during last year’s Video Music Awards after she performed alongside Macklemore and Mary Lambert during a performance of the hit marriage equality anthem, “Same Love.”
Jennifer has her new album “JHUD” debuting in September, so the rumor mill has started running full time once again.
Guess what? Hudson couldn’t care less.
In an interview with Pridesource, Hudson responded, “People were like, ‘Is Jennifer trying to tell us something?’ Hey, I wasn’t, but if you wanna think that, it’s all right with me,” she said. “When I got the call [to perform at the VMAs], I was like, “Oh my God, I definitely wanna do this. A powerful statement is being made and I wanna be a part of that.”
Hudson went on to explain that the LGBT community inspires her by how independent and confident they are despite all of the hate and criticism that they face.
It has also been said that she portrays a “drag queen attitude”. She has been to many Pride events to show her support and says that being around so many drag queens helped her immensely with her confidence.
The fact of the matter is that Hudson has a large gay audience and her song from “Dreamgirls”, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” has become an anthem in the gay community.

When questioned about her popularity in the LGBT community Hudson stated, “I’ve never understood, gosh, what does the gay community see in me? You know what I mean? Because again, I grew up around a lot of that and that’s the world that embraced me first, so that I’ve never fully gathered.”
It seems pretty clear she doesn’t want to say the wrong thing to a key audience for her right ahead of her album release.
In short, Hudson never really gave a direct answer to her preferences which most likely will just lead to more rumors.
Does it really matter though? The girl can sing!
