I love traveling, and I especially love traveling with my friends. However, it started becoming harder and harder to plan around everyone’s busy schedules.
I’ve always tossed around the idea of taking a solo trip, but I never really thought that I could do it. I mean, take a whole trip all by myself?
One day, I was browsing on Groupon and I saw a deal for Mexico that was all inclusive, including airfare, and it was just too good to be true. I posted the link in my group chat and the top things to do in Cancun to see if my girls wanted to go, but they all had at least 2 different excuses.
I love a good deal, so before I could even think about it, I booked the trip, all by myself. I once heard someone say, that if you wait for someone to travel with you, then you’ll never go anywhere. I mean, life happens, and it’s not always easy to plan around 5 different schedules, so I definitely understand.
I was so excited about my trip. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going to Mexico! As the trip go closer, nervousness began to set in. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going alone.
The day of the trip I took a shot before the Uber came, just to release some stress. When I got to the airport I was early, as usual, so I sat down in my terminal and started to read a book.
Out of the corner of my eye, I couldn’t help but notice this tall handsome chocolate man. He was wearing a baseball cap, so it kind of hard to get a good look at his face, but from what I could see, I liked.

I tried not to stare but I think he caught me and so I briefly looked away. I tried to get the image of him out of my mind, and back to my book, but 2 minutes later he came and sat down right beside me. When I say that my heart did a backflip, and wouldn’t stop, that’s what it did!
I was so nervous, it felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I tried to play it cool, and continue reading, but he interrupted me and said: “hey- I hope this seat wasn’t taken.” Since he was staring right at me and in my face I had the perfect view of his perfectly symmetrical face, and couldn’t believe how beautiful he was up close.
So much so that he had to repeat the question because I was at a loss for words. Luckily I was saved by the announcement that said boarding would begin soon. When it was finally time to board, I was pleasantly surprised that we were boarding at the same time, anddddd were seated beside each other.
I was like okay, this has to be a dream. We talked the whole plane ride, and even made plans to meet up when we got situated, because he too was taking a solo trip! We also kept in touch after the trip, because it turns out we lived in the same city!
It was as if everything was preplanned because I hardly ever meet good guys. But we went on a few dates post trip, and about two months later we were exclusive.
So, I don’t think you should take a solo trip in the hopes of meeting a guy, but I do think getting out of your comfort zone is good because you never know what good can come of it!

I have to Mexico, for my birthday. I was traveling with someone initially, but I went alone.
Going to Cancun in 3 weeks. My boyfriend is starting. Was bumming my flow. But I’m still going with or without. Now….hmmmm. Ok then.
Exactly^^^^. Forget that “aw, blah blah”. I’m going!! His lost backing out. It’s all paid for. Flight unrefundble, hotel is amazing. I care, but I’m deflecting my excitement with wasted wondering. I “know” I’m going to have a blast. (Group vaca).
