We gave you a glimpse of Nicki’s work with Roberto Cavalli earlier this week on Facebook, but we have more shots of her and man am I proud. Home girl is killin it in every shot. Italian photographer, Franscesco Carrozzini made her look so exotic in a variety of looks that encompassed texture and flowing fabric.
Not only is Nicki endorsing his ready to wear collection, she is also the face of their eye wear and accessory line, the shoot was probably one of the best we have seen this year.
You might wonder why Roberto Cavalli picked Nicki to represent his brand? He explained it below:
“I chose Nicki Minaj because she embodies the exuberant and modern femininity of the Cavalli woman. In recent years we have become accustomed to women castigated in clothes that hide their body shapes.
With this campaign, I wanted to send a strong counter trend message. I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body – who is not afraid to show her curves. Instead, she makes them her strength.”
You have no idea how happy I was to read what he said. It is about time we moved away from the typical stick figures and embrace all women, all shapes and sizes.
Not only does Nicki fit that bill but she owns it as well. This is pretty important because even though many of us might not be fans of her music, you have to respect her for the moves she is making. She is wearing her culture on her back and bringing it across the pond where ideals are pretty different but clearly changing.
I had a chance to Listen to Nicki’s Pink Print yesterday, and I like it, she worked hard and you can tell when every song is a hit. It was a great mixture of hard core rhymes and raw emotion.
Well done Nicki, its your year baby.
