About how she connected to Crazy Eyes - "I like to I call it inviting her in, so opening my body up... I like to feel physically loose, because I feel like this particular character is very physical. She uses her body in really extreme ways,"
About her stylist - "I do work with a stylist; I work with the amazing, beautiful and lovely Cristina Ehrlich. She’s not just a stylist, but a friend and a confidant. I pride myself and am grateful for having the good fortune of having people on my team who I love, do you know what I mean? Cristina is one of them. She’s just awesome. She has a brilliant eye, and I think even better than an eye, an amazing ear."
About her cast and friends - "Danielle Brooks, Taylor Schilling, Dascha Polanco, Yael Stone, Natasha Lyonne, Samira Wiley... that’s like, my steady crew. Those are my people. Coming to work has now become an extension of my weekend. We hang out, we were just at my house. Dasch and I were just in L.A., and we were hanging out Tuesday. We just had an all nighter, and I don’t mean all nighter out on the town, just literally in a room, feet up, talking. That’s what we do."
About her style - "I like anything that feels regal, without feeling overly stuffy, or constricted, you know. I think a woman should always feel at least like a queen, whatever that means to her."
About bringing "Crazy Eyes" home - I do a lot of stretching in the morning when I wake up but I think for me, now more than anything, the process of wearing, putting her on, it’s not so much the exercise of putting her on, three seasons in, that it’s the exercise of taking her off, if that makes sense. Making sure that I don’t bring her home with me."
What fans say when they see her in person - "Usually the things that I get are, ‘you’re actually a lot smaller in real life!’ I’m like, ‘yes.’
