DSTRKT, a popular nightclub in London, is under fire after a group of women claim the club staff refused to let them in because of their race and size. Zalika Miller, a presenter and actress, says the club refuses to let her and her friends in because they were “too fat” and “too dark”.
Miller added that, before actually entering the club, the promoter and a friend of theirs, Daniel, requested photos of the girls she would bring along. The promoted only wanted black girls “of a certain caliber”.
Miller sent him photos, and he approved. However, the promoter’s approval didn’t mean anything, because when they arrived outside the West London club, they were denied entry
When they reached the front of the queue, the hostess asked them whose list they were on. She went into the club, then came out and told them it was full.
However, they saw other girls getting in, and they started asking questions. The girls called the promoter, who asked the staff why the girls weren’t being let in. The response was that the staff members felt like the girls were not attractive enough.
The promoter went to the door girl and asked why she wasn’t letting us in, and she just said, ‘I don’t think they’re good looking enough.
Minutes after the manager, Ugo Allessio, told the women to line up against a wall so he could judge if they were attractive enough to be let in, Daniel showed up.
He told the women they wouldn’t be let in. They later learned the reason for this: Allessio was okay with one of the girls entering because she was biracial.
However, her friends were either too dark or too fat–or not fashionable enough–to be let in. Allessio then revealed his inner racist by revealing that his main concern is the white crowd, and insinuating that he would let in white girls who can’t dress over black girls who can.
The girls, naturally, were pissed off. They vented their anger on social media, and soon learned that they weren’t the first women of color to suffer discrimination at DSTRKT. Even one of the club’s promoters couldn’t get her friends in because they were black.

This was after they were denied:
They had a protest outside the club on Tuesday, September 29 and Doug Wndel the head of marketing at the clup gave a little speil on why he was not apologizing for the clubs practices.
“I don’t speak for the club, I speak for myself,” he told the group of black women. “Because the allegations are false, there’s no proof that we have refused a guest because of race or discrimination.”
“The messages from who? They’re not members of staff, they don’t work for DSTRKT. I cannot be responsible for the words of third parties, they do not work for the venue, they provide a service for the venue,” he said.
You know what is crazy about this whole thing, the men in the club and promoters are mostly black and instead of making a stand for the women who are being discriminated against everyone sits around and perpetuate this behavior by taking pictures seeking approval for what it clearly gross discrimination.
