Lol my 8yr old pointed that out and my response was you really listen at school hug momma …however some people just talk so much sometimes they don’t pay attention to what they are saying
The funny part about all of this controversy is being black means so many things to so many people! Some may say she’s simplifying the issue, some may say she is turning her back on her race, and all of these opinions to what avail ? How does her opinion really change how we view ourselves? Should it? She can’t have an opinion of how she views herself? Or are we too hung up on categorizing everyone ?
And when did people in the entertainment business become the scholars of the world where what they think it is how it should be. Stick to acting and collect your money after the box office.
There is a difference between being “black” and being “African American”, just likes there’s a difference between Hispanic and Mexican-American. Not all black people are African, and most black Americans have several generations separating them from their African roots. If my great grandfather’s great great grandfather was from Africa, but every generation after his was born and raised in America, why should I be identified by 1/10 of my genealogy?
If you were Italian, or Jewish or Irish, I think you would not even be saying this. People sadden my heart. We used to be proud of our heritage, now people want to throw it away. NOT the group of people I mentioned above. I will embrace my heritage, just as they do.!!!
I have to disagree Tracy Harrell-White. I know plenty of people who have the equivalent of Irish, Italian, or whatever but don’t identify themselves as Italian American. They’re white, because they’re so far removed it feels phoney otherwise, for them. My husband, at a quarter Italian with a full blooded grandfather, is like that. He doesn’t throw it out and our kids look more Italian than he does. I totally agree. I’m black. If I’d been from Africa or was second generation than maybe I’d feel differently but my heritage doesn’t make me any more African today than it would make me Indian tomorrow, which is also a part of my ancestry.
Black is the result of all colors together. White Is the lack of color. We are all a mixture of ethnicities, but race is man made. I am Afro American be cause that’s where the majority of my ancestors came from. Black is a color almost no one comes in, yes there are dark shades of brown. But being black is a color that labeled us under. It’s almost like being organized, giving us a new title /label /Name we didn’t need. Ever heard of Cushites. Curious question.
Plus it’s an exaggeration that Afro-Americans or African Americans are all mixed, and mixed with everything. Empirical evidence shows this, let alone the actual facts.
Omg Hannah. I never said black comes in all shade, like I NEVER said that.
And yeah OK that’s true probably ALL of them are mixed and doubt anyone in the world is mixed with everything. However there is a lot of Afro Americans that aren’t made of only African genetics, but that’s not their fault. A simple DNA test will probably show that probably most of us aren’t just one thing.
I stopped watching when she said she was from EVERY CONTINENT in Africa add well as EVERY CONTINENT in Europe. You can’t convince me of anything when you learn these simple things in elementary school and can not carry them forward. Just saying
She is black. Some people try to be half of some other race and only half black but the bottom line is you are black and that is a wonderful thing to be I AM BLACK AND PROUD OF IT!!!!!

Why can’t she remain the little girl and teenager I loved so much? Oh, and she gives homeschooling a bad name.
Correction: I don’t think she was homeschooled. But I still miss those days when she just acted and sang.
You can’t be from every Continent in Africa because Africa is a continent! You could be from every country! People always stumble over that!

That moment you put your foot so far in your mouth..that you panic and stick to you stupid guns…Go home Raven.
True statement…
Clueless , like most.
I wish she had used all her money to get an education.
Raven done lost her mind
She really needs to get her head checked. Mental illness is serious.
Raven needs to go have all the seats in America and just sit her behind down…

No it’s not. Black doesn’t come in all shades.
