Have you ever sent a text message and wished to all that is Holy that you could take it back. Well guess what, there is an App for that.
One brilliant graduate from Spelman created an app that literally allows users to recall text messages before they actually get delivered to the recipients phone.
Maci Peterson the creator of the app thought of everything regarding the new technology. She even has the option to place a ‘curfew’ on your message so that you can determine the precise moment the message can go out.
So how long would I have to recall the message? Well according to Maci, you have just 60 seconds to recall it and in my book 60 seconds is a long time!
Maci came up with the idea when she herself sent out and embarrassing text message before she could do spell check.
In an interview with Triangular Business Journal she shared details on what the origin of the app was:
The origin of the app was, of course, a text gone wrong. Peterson was heading out to a first date with “a really strong Christian” and texted “are you in DC or MD?” Autocorrect took hold, and corrected MD to “me,” so that it read “in me.”
“That’s not what I wanted to say, especially not before our first date,” Peterson joked. “He replied ‘I’m at my grandmother’s, I’ll see you in D.C.'”
The beta model has been launched on Android phones so far and will be available for iOS in late Spring. Maci needs to raise 1.5mill and is in talks with venture capital firms to make it this all happen.
According to the interview the money will be used for:
New hires, product development and marketing, as well as attaining both domestic and international patent protection.
