I do not know how we forgot to tell you all about this catastrophe of a move done by our most loved Social media platform Instagram. Lets give you the scoop:
Around mid July Instagram decided it was time get rid of the hashtag #curvy. They put it in the same place where they stuck #eggplantFriday.
The only difference is #curvy was a source of inspiration for curvy girls on Instagram. If you needed fashion tips, the hottest swimwear, curvy motivation all you needed to do is look up #curvy on IG.
Before you run and create your own petition against the social media giant we must say that Instagram had an explanation, whether it is a good one or not is left to personal opinion.
An Instagram spokesperson said that the ban was not about the word ‘curvy’ but rather the fact that #curvy was being used as a means to violate their nudity policy.
We cannot deny that this is not true, just search #curves and you will see what they are talking about. My problem is Instagram is not fair because there are a ton of hashtags that will obviously lead to nudity violations that they have not bothered to police or ban for that matter.
After that women decided to circumvent this issue by using hashtag #curvee and according to BuzzFeed reports:
Women across Instagram posted in protest, also including hashtags such as #bringcurvyback, #everybodyisbeautiful, and the #effyourbeautystandards, popularized by model Tess Holliday.

Fast forward to today, after much resistance and women everywhere calling Instagram out for its obvious bias against women’s bodies specifically they have brought #curvy back.
Instead they have decided to do things the hard but respectful way by monitoring the pictures closely. They are also planning to raise #curvy posts that meet their guidelines.
According to the Washington Post
“We won’t be perfect,” said Nicky Jackson Colaco, Instagram’s director of public policy. “but we will be thoughtful.”
Wtf
What was the purpose of the block? People misuse tags all the time. BTW, don’t look up the tag ‘abs’. Folks so perverted.
I’m confused on what curvy means now a days. I think it means obesed and unhealthy
Really tho
Definition of words change quickly with time. I remember doing search “ball” as in a dance lead to a perverted result. Makes sense why they blocked the word but it’s unfair because so many other words should then be blocked as well.
Wow really everyone is beautiful in their own way.
