Yesterday we told you that Joan Rivers was rushed to the hospital after suffering cardiac and respiratory arrest while undergoing throat surgery. Since then Joan has received an out pouring of love and support and her daughter, Mellissa Rivers flew in from L.A to be by her mothers side.
“I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family,” Melissa said in a statement. “We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”
Joan surprised many of her friends including Michael Lucas who had been at Joan’s last comedy show on Wednesday. He told CNN that while doing her set, she looked better than ever.
What was ironic was that Joan was talking about what it would be like if people were talking about her dropping dead on stage.
“She said, ‘You know I’m 81 years old, and I could drop dead at any moment and you would be so lucky because you will have a story to tell your friends for the rest of your life,’”
Even though it was just a joke, you must admit that it was just a bit weird and maybe she was not feeling too well but tried to make light of it.
Michael Lucas said that her Set was 1 hour long and that his friend showed no sign of slowing down, that she didn’t even pause for a second and showed no signs of sickness whatsoever which is why her being hospitalized surprised him.

We are sure that Joan was pretty surprised herself especially considering the gravity of her situation. She was scheduled to perform in Jersey on Thursday night, our guess is she wont be performing for awhile.
