I’ve been on the alkaline diet for the past five years and also have my four children on it. I first came across this “diet”when I learned about a man named Dr. Sebi who had done miraculous things for people by simply putting them on this alkaline diet and giving them herbs. His work is highly controversial, but proven! But I won’t get into that in this article.

The alkaline diet is a very simple, yet strict, way of eating that consists of consuming foods that are alkalizing. This means that when it enters into your body, it helps to bring up your body’s pH level. The opposite of alkaline is acid, which obviously brings down your pH to an acidic state. The link between acid and disease

What makes the alkaline diet superior to any that you’ve ever heard of is that it can stop, prevent and even reverse illnesses and diseases. It has been proven in the medical and herbal industries to be true.

For instance, cancer patients who have been put onto an alkaline diet were able to raise their pH levels, which caused the cancer cells to become dormant (at 7.4 pH) and then die off (at 7.8 pH). The same thing happens with every other disease, including STDs, diabetes, arthritis and the big one, AIDS.

The concept of eating an acid-alkaline balanced diet is a tricky one because if you allow your body to become even slightly acidic, you put yourself at risk of:

  • Inability to properly absorb oxygen, which causes your body to slowly suffocate.
  • Free radical damage increases, which can lead to cancerous mutations in your blood.
  • Premature aging (a major warning sign that your body is lacking in nutrients/oxygen).
  • Damage to your cardiovascular system, caused by blood vessel restrictions, reduced oxygen in your tissues and hypertension.
  • Diabetes, obesity and weight gain.
  • Stones in your kidneys and bladder.
  • Slower healing from illness and injuries.
  • Immune system deficiency.
  • Lower energy levels, chronic fatigue and depression.
  • Weak, brittle bones that can lead to osteoporosis, bone spurs and hip fractures.
  • Pain in the joints and muscles due to lactic acid buildup.
  • Easier for diseases and illnesses to form in the body.
  • Diabetes ketoacidosis, chronic liver/kidney diseases, severe diarrhea and adrenal gland insufficiency.

 

This information is alarming for a lot of people, but again, there is science to back it, but you have to look for it because the pharmaceutical companies are not going to push this in front of you.

They are enjoying their billions of dollars annually! If you haven’t heard, sickness (especially cancer) is a billion dollar industry, and without it, doctors, scientists and pharmaceutical companies wouldn’t be able to sustain their salaries.

So what foods does the alkaline diet consist of?

The alkaline diet includes foods that are natural (meaning non-hybrid and non-starch) and have a pH level of 7 or higher. This includes a lot of fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds and herbs.

So this excludes acidic foods like meat, dairy, starches like rice and potatoes, coffee/caffeine, soy, sugar, wheat and eggs. Pretty much, it’s a healthy vegan diet — I say healthy because a lot of vegans eat soy, rice, potatoes and so on.

It’s important to note that not all plant-based foods are alkaline because a lot of them have been hybridized by ancient farmers and the very scientists who promote the alkaline/acid balanced diet today. And you’ll find that they also promote their produce before all others. In grade school, what were the healthy foods they told you to eat?

Apples, bananas, carrots, celery, corn, oats, whole wheat, big tomatoes (not cherry/roma) peanut butter, pineapples, oranges, kidney beans, cauliflower and the list goes on. Here and there you’ll get natural (God-made) foods mentioned like peaches, pears, plums, walnuts, olives, turnips and so on.

Now, not all apples, bananas, tomatoes and oranges are bad, since there was a momma that they stemmed from. But it comes down to finding the original to eat. Carrots, celery and pineapples, on the other hand, are made from two different families and didn’t exist in the beginning of time.

The way you can tell if a food is a hybrid is by checking its pH level and whether it contains starch — corn, peas, carrots, etc. all contain starch and are acidic. Starch doesn’t naturally exist in nature. It is a chemical that forms when a hybrid plant is created — starch is the glue that allows the two to combine.

You’ll notice people are curing illnesses with produce that are alkaline and acidic (i.e. combining leafy greens, carrots, berries, apples, etc.), but obviously it balances out into an alkaline diet because it is mixed with those that are high in alkaline. But why not eliminate the acidic produce altogether? It’s important to learn the African diet if you are of African descent because they say that blueberries are acidic, which is true for Caucasians, but in our bodies it’s highly alkalizing!

And I have to mention, genetically engineered produce, their latest invention for corn, tomatoes, soy and a couple of other foods we consume daily. This takes your body to a whole other level of unhealthy. So watch out for seedless fruits!

 

Being a full-time alkaline vegan

It sounds like an impossible thing to be, but like I always tell people, it’s super easy and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I’m a Betty Crocker in the kitchen and love making meals from scratch.

I get to enjoy all of the same foods I once did, but with substitute ingredients. I use spelt dough, mushrooms, chickpeas and nut meals to make pizza, tacos, burgers (more like chicken sandwiches), subs, donuts, cakes, cookies, pies, muffins, hot dogs, pot pies, hot pockets, pretzels and the list goes on.

The great thing is that I can make whatever I want whenever I want and don’t have to buy it or worry about what my favorite foods are doing to my health.

I take comfort in knowing that the way I eat and feed my children will allow us to live many decades and thwart diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, colds, flu, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, tooth decay/cavities, arthritis and others that most of us blacks have to look forward to as we age.

And best of all, alkaline vegans look and feel younger well into old age! Drinking milk and eating dairy reduces your calcium and weakens your bones, which is why Americans suffer from osteoporosis.
